Background
Compass Foreign Languages is Tianjin’s leading English language training centre, operating since 1999 and located in Heping District, a central, up-market area of Tianjin. It is a privately-owned company run by Chinese and western managers. Compass operates on the values of integrity, service, teamwork, innovation and prompt action.
The school’s mission is to provide tailored language training to enable its students to become competent users of English in an international environment. We have over 700 adult students currently enrolled in full-time and part-time courses. Our students are keen, young adults, most of whom are preparing to work or study overseas.

Key features of the Compass programme:
·Students study at their own pace in the computer-based lessons;
·Classroom learning with experienced teachers complements computer lessons;
·Frequent assessment shows student progress and assists motivation;
·Tutors are available to give individual direction and feedback when needed;
·Classroom learning in all four skills of English (reading, writing, listening and speaking) helps students develop communicative competence;
·Speaking activity classes are taken by native speakers of English;
·All classes above starter level are taught in English and all classes use interactive teaching methods;
·Class size is limited to 25 students;
·Classes are offered at 10 levels from starter to upper-intermediate;
·An IELTS preparation course (including practice tests and interviews) is offered at upper levels;
·Free optional activities (on topics such as pronunciation, western culture) are available to all students.
